US Army 15-6 Investigation Report
The US Army released this 15-6 Investigation report under a Freedom of Information Act. It is lengthy and covers many of the same incidents we mentioned in the Podcast. Names are heavily redacted, but Brandon and James’ testimony is present in the form of Sworn Statements.
Debating Chambers Independent Investigation Report
The unnamed investigative reporter at debatingchambers.com has done likely the most thorough investigation into the Panjwai Massacre, relying heavily on Afghan sources in addition to official US Military sources. The site is one of the few to explore the multiple shooter theory, as well as indications that there were more casualties than previously reported. On the website, you can find several helpful and informational articles, but the most helpful are:
1) Panjwai Massacre Timeline (PDF)
2) A 26 page addendum to the Timeline (PDF)
3) Illustrated Summary of Events
There are also extensive summaries of testimony from locals at the scene, as well as summaries of the trial.
James Alexander’s Geographical Guide to Belambai
In preparation for this release, James created a product that highlights many of the maps and photos of the base, and the people of VSP Belambai, taking special care to conceal the identities of those no affiliate with the project. It is as close as you can get to being on the base yourself, and we pulled heavily from this product to create the maps and images for the video podcast.
